Getting to Garmisch-Partenkirchen

Less than an hour from Munich Airport (Flughafen), Garmisch is less than an hour by car from Munich along Germany’s famed Autobahn. Expect to drive up to three hours on weekends and public holidays. If you’re planning on travelling the weekend you may want to consider arriving to Garmisch-Partenkirchen via Munich by train to avoid traffic. Plus, overall, the train is the faster route. Trains leave to and from Munich every hour and takes anywhere from one hour to 1.5 hours, depending on whether you’re on a local or express service.
